Trail's End 2011 Popcorn Sale

Pack 4 Parents and Scouts,

Welcome to the 2011 Trails End Popcorn Fundraiser! By now you should have received an order form in the mail from Trails End. You can start selling popcorn right away. I’d recommend getting out there as soon as possible to be ahead of all the fall fund-raising done by the schools. For anyone who did not received their order form in the mail, I will have them at my house (in the blue newspaper tube at the curb) starting on Sept 8th.

The Popcorn Sale is our Pack’s major fundraiser for the year, and goes to keep the costs down for the Fall and Spring Overnight Camping trips, Rocket Day, Pinewood Derby, the Blue & Gold Banquet, and all the other activities that the Pack enjoys. Over 70% of the popcorn sale goes towards local scouting.  Our Pack can earn up to a 35% commission on everything you sell. An additional 35% goes to the Knox Trail Council, who oversees scouting in 22 local towns, runs the Nobscot Reservation, the Robsham Reservation, Camp Resolute, and all the summer camps for scouts.

Any scouts that want to sell online can set up an online account; instructions are with the order forms. Our Pack is #3204. 

Remember when you sell door-to-door: wear your uniform, be polite, always go with an adult, tell people that this supports the Milford Cub Scouts, and be safe on the roads. Orders will be due back to me by Oct 23rd- this is before the Oct Pack meeting, so please don’t hold your order form until the meeting. Popcorn will be available for delivery on Sun, Nov 20th. Please collect any money when someone orders the popcorn, and turn it when you place your order with me by Oct 23rd.

All prizes this year are gift cards to Walmart or Amazon- they’ve done away with the compasses, flashlights, knives, etc, from years past. Online sales will count towards your total. There are bonus prizes available for certain sales thresholds (like In the past). Those are also detailed with the order form. As new prizes are added I’ll let you know.

This year the Pack is considering preordering some popcorn and doing storefront sales at some of Milford’s businesses. We’ll need a parent from each Den to oversee their Den’s sales. Please let me know if any parent would be interested in helping out with their son’s den. I’m trying to make arrangements with local merchants to get permission to sell in front of their stores- if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

And if anyone wants to apprentice this year as the Popcorn Lieutenant Kernal, with an eye towards next year, give me a call and I can discuss the position with you.
